From the director of Mr. and Mrs.

Smith and The Bourne Identity comes a new film. This your first job? I know what I'm doing. I'm late for a crit change. Starring Matt Damon. Everybody in New England is after us. And Casey Affleck. Go, go, go, go, go! What are you doing? Taking notes. Taking notes on a criminal conspiracy. The Instigators. Rated R. Streaming August 9th on Apple TV+. When last we left our heroes, they were about to dispatch the hordes of zombies that were surrounding their home. Let's check in and see what progress they've made. Ow! My arm! Sorry, Jason. It's been nice knowing you.

No, no, no! It's just scraped on the broken glass from the last ad. Oh. Okay. Well, it sounds like we're going to need some armor. Where we're going to get battle-ready armor at reasonable prices during the zombie apocalypse. Don't worry. I've got this. Why do we have so many closets? Don't question it! Here! I have this battle-ready armor from Museum Replicas Limited. I'll carry the Lannister shield, wear an exact replica of King Leonidas' helmet from the hit blockbuster film 300, and this awesome Dragon Slayer leather armor. Oh, that is so awesome! Is that the one that comes in nine different color combinations?

Indeed it is! I look amazing. And I have the perfect thing for you too! That's, uh... That's the Tigris Chain bra and loincloth. That's right! Made of supple black real suede, this two-piece male armor ensemble is sure to grab the attention at just about any event. Here's your attractive fitted brassiere and matching loincloth skirt, both of which have 16 gauge steel mail sewn into the front and reverse. Well, um, my loins are sure to be very, very protected. And you'll also distract our enemies! The zombies? Yes, the zombies! Now hurry up and change. Both pieces use braided leather to tie together and allow for a range of flexibility and sizing.

Well, what do you think? I feel... sexy. And dangerous. Are our newly armored clad heroes now prepared to face the hordes of zombies outside of their home? Tune in next week as we find out, but in the meantime you can go to museumreplicas.com and get 10% off of your order by simply using the code THERIA10. That's THERIA10 at checkout. And now, on with the show! Let's do that thing where we go around the table and introduce ourselves. I'm Jason, I'm the Dungeon Master. Going around the table, start with Kelsey. Hey, I'm Kelsey and I play Arya Lethea, the Drow Sion.

And Michael. Hey, I'm Michael and I play Anvin Yamil, the half-elf Stormmage. And Rachel. I'm Rachel and I play Taven Brightheart, Minotaur Shaman. And Robert. In Winterhaven's criminal justice system, the people are defended by two separate but equally important entities. The Council, who create the laws, and Malchus Grimnus, who disregards the laws and commits atrocities for the greater good. These are their stories. I both hate you and love you. I just... I'm trying to reconcile my feelings for you. That is fucking incredible. *imitates the sound of a gun shooting* Wait, I was reading through that.

What was that referencing? Law and Order. Okay. I knew it was one of those shows, I didn't know which one. Yeah, Rob was clearly Ice-T then. Just... just... just... That's... a person. Ice-T is a prominent figure in the world of D&D. He read a book. Come on. Oh, that's that guy. That's that guy! He's never done anything else. That's just... that's how I know Ice-T. He's that person that people were laughing that did the D&D stuff about. It's hilarious. It was so great. Like, okay, does anyone not know what this is referencing? Like, the Ice-T and D&D thing. I actually know the story, surprisingly.

I don't know really who Ice-T is, but I know the story. Yeah. A while back, Wizards of the Coast released a series of audio short stories set in the D&D world, but each one was read by a different celebrity. And one of those celebrities was Ice-T. And I think you might still be able to get these on Amazon Books or something. But apparently he did an interview about it where he was like, "Man, I was having to talk about wizards and shit." And he's just going into all of the stuff he didn't understand about fantasy, but he was in on this gig. It was great.

It's so great. Okay, you ever... it's like the Vin Diesel D&D thing. On the surface, it's like, "That guy doesn't know anything." And it's like, "Oh, no, he just played growing up." So when I first heard about it, it's like, "Oh, I guess Ice-T's really in the D&D." Turns out, no. I don't even know why they approached him. It was just weird. Going back to that interview, it's fucking hilarious. Like, "Yeah, man, there's talking swords and shit." It's like, he had no idea. It's just fun. I actually heard that. The Kotaku article is entitled, "Ice-T accidentally recorded a Dungeons & Dragons document." Oh, no.

Oh, no. Makes me think of Orson Welles' interview. Oh, the one for Transformers? Yes. Oh, I play a toy that eats other toys. Guys, last time on the show... So you guys met with the Council, and yeah, sadly, there will be a trial on the 22nd of Thorim. Currently, it is the 11th. You guys are striking out from Winterhaven to assemble a defense crew, a team of allies who would speak to Malchus Grimnus's character. Now, that could be easier said than done. We don't know yet. But you guys have a schedule, you have an itinerary and a plan. I believe the first step is getting to Overwatch, I believe?

Mm-hmm. And sending notes to other people. I knew we just say we did that off-camera. Yeah, I believe you did that at the end of the last session. There's letters sent, the wheels are in motion, and after you're done your business in Overwatch, you are going to meet your... If all goes well, you're going to meet Jadzi and Valus and Tessia and everybody in Esterhold. That's the plan. Now, you officially did leave Winterhaven, and I believe Michael... I don't know what you're talking about. See, there's this big number 8 I got circled twice on my notes. That's an 18?

I think you wrote that one. It's always an 18. Yeah, it's an easy mistake to me. Do you know what's crazy is every group accuses me of that, which either means I have a disorder where I forget digits that only make numbers larger, or... I think that's exactly what it is. I mean, that makes sense. I'm pretty sure that it's actually in the DSM. Jason, we need to have a talk. Okay, cool, because it's either I'm the problem or all of you are liars, and I don't know which... Well, I mean, Oculus and Razer, it's like at some point... Exactly, right. I mean, the most simple explanation would be I'm just terrible.

You guys, we just... for a while we need to indulge Jason's disorder until he comes to a point where the healing can truly begin. So for now, we're gonna have to accept it, that the numbers, they're just gonna be lower. They're just gonna be lower. So traveling down the road, you're gonna make it a few hours in, and it's actually a pretty pleasant day so far. In that, you guys had a lot of excitement coming into the city, what with the orcs and all that. And you got your wagon, you're traveling along, and time is kind of of the essence. You guys basically plotted out the course where, as long as you're not stopped in a city for a couple of days or something, you could make up the time and still get where you need to go.

As long as you're back to Winterhaven by the 22nd, you should be fine. 19th, I thought, because that's when we have a meeting with the guy. Well, the 22nd is the absolute... that is the day of the trial. Now the 19th is when you're supposed to be speaking with Wren, but if you were to miss that for some reason, you'd have less time to prep, obviously, but at least you wouldn't miss the trial. You wouldn't be, you know... yeah. So, let's see... Tevinne is gonna spot this first, but shortly after, Malkus and Arya are gonna pick this up. In the distance, as you're driving down, this will be to your left.

It's way off the road, but there's a campsite, and you're gonna see a bunch of people sort of camped out, and they have their wagon set up, and it looks like they were in the middle of probably catching some sort of break. Now the problem is that two hill giants have broken into their camp and have sort of started running amok. Now, these individuals are armed, and they are fighting the hill giants, but as you're watching, two of them have died. And it would appear that there are still six. Now you have a decision to make. Man, remember when I played the character that would be totally cool just moving on and leaving that being?

Mm-hmm. Yep. That was a good time. Was that six other people to help, or six hill giants? No, six people. There are two hill giants. Two hill giants, six people. It looks like a lot of them are using smaller weapons like daggers. There is one or two archers that are trying to fight the hill giants. Now, they're not doing extraordinarily well, but they're not completely defenseless either. Somebody will have to poke Amvin so he gets his nose out of the book. Am I driving the wagon? I don't know if we established that. I think that tends to be your position. Okay.

Because I probably would have slowed down and at least got everybody's attention who maybe didn't see it. What's going on? Slowing to a stop? No, just slowing, like, "Hey guys, there's an issue on the left." Jason said that Arya wouldn't... At this point Arya is clearly getting ready to go and help. She's not even thinking of there being another option. Theo wouldn't have seen it initially, but would... Oh, that was his perception. Yeah, that's... Of course it was. His helmet's in the way or something. So I guess we're gonna go over. Arya, we can drive the wagon up a little closer if you want.

Would this be a thing where you're hustling up? Me? With the wagon, it's just like, "Yeah." Like, we don't want to get too close because we don't want them to bust open the wagon. Yeah, but we also don't want to stop now and then run 500 feet. Yeah, yeah. Like, "Huh, huh, huh, huh." Aw, they're all dead. Tracking it for three miles. Yeah, totally. Okay. Yeah, so I would pull up the wagon closer unless Malkus or Ambon say no or put up a strong enough argument to stop it or physically grab the reins and stop it. Yeah, no objection. Okay, let me get you guys a map.

Remember when you talked about not having combat because the table might crash? We'll see. You immediately threw us into combat? I didn't throw you into anything. Okay, you know our character Stasis is playing. Look, you rolled. That was the situation you would have run into. You make decisions. Thanks a lot, 18. I'm just saying, if it crashes, it's your fault. Yeah, we tried to make it an 18. You wouldn't let us. Okay, I'm just saying I blame the good people at Smite Works. Also, I'm saying... That's the famous groundspeople's. Sharing. So let's see. We should have roll initiative.

I guess you should. I still have powers checked off, so I'm pretty sure. Oh, hold on a second. Yeah, just do a full rest. I don't know why it didn't give you that, but there you go. Yeah, okay. There you go. Ooh, nice. Where's our six friends? Oh, yeah. Six friends are going to be at the end of the round. Okay. Man, Malkus usually broods his way to the end of the initiative, but today is my day. Today is your day. Oh, shit. Now we just need to roll through the hill giants. With their plus 15. Fuck. Okay. Amven, your turn. So again, for those at home, there are two hill giants.

Now, these things are formidable, but slow. And my advice would be to not get hit by them. Thanks. That's just me. Thanks, Jason. It's your life. You do what you want to do. Now, if I remember right, there's a combat. Where is the blood drops that I remember I'm supposed to be finding? Powers tab. And it's the little police baton first to make the attack. All right. So let's put some actual role play into this. All right. So Amven reaches out his arm and prepares a lightning strike. That is going to miss. Forgot that he didn't write his notes down correctly and it's the wrong word.

And it fails. It's an impressive first turn. He's like, all right, guys, let me show you how good I am for this group. I'm going to show off a darn. Oh, darn. All right. And I think that's all I'm going to do my turn. Nice. How do I say I'm done with my turn? Oh, you just say you're done. Well, I mean, well, the combat director, don't I have to do. Jason does it. Just say you're done. OK. I got this, guys. I swear. So these two hill giants are just kind of just waylaying these people. They're not doing again. It's more just kind of keeping them at bay. Just trying to like, please don't smash our stuff.

That type of thing. You can see they're panicking. And these hill giants are just every once in a while, they'll get a really good hit in and just knock someone, you know, you know, 10, 15 yards away or something. And sometimes they just don't stand back up. And if they do, they're kind of hobbling to get away. And then with the arrival of this new party, the battle chief is going to turn. I don't like that, Nate. I don't like that. It's scary. No, no, no. It just means that his strengths are in like logistics and motivation as opposed to hitting people. He's the chief.

He's the leader. Yeah. He's like, I mean, it's like saying like hill giant middle management. Like he's not physically fit. I knew I should have done diplomacy. He is going to move toward your tank. He's a weakened warrior. He's a weakened warrior, Kelsey. He just, he exercises. He does, he, he's, he goes to a spin class. Yeah, I want to see hill giant spin class. That sounds amazing. It's just round in circles instead of on a bike. Yeah, they just spin around. So he's got this giant makeshift battle ax type thing, right? Which is essentially this huge tree, this, this, this piece of tree.

And then like sharpened stones attached to it. Like it is totally DIY ax, right? And he's going to swing this thing at Theo. And it is going to make a noise as it sort of like glides through the air. Just, it's, it's a terrible sound now. Wow. Okay, here we go. That is a 34 that will hit Theo. Oh my God. He rolled three ones out of three. Oh my God. That could have been so much worse. Bonds of the clan. That does what? I take half the damage. Oh, okay. So, so to Veeam. It is so to Veeam. So I could push him out of the way I would, but I can't. So to Veeam and Theo are both going to take 12 damage and that will wrap up the battle, battle chief's turn.

And that'll bring up Malchus. Okay. So, so where are the innocence? The innocence would have been right between here. You know what? I'll draw a box where the innocence are. It'll be right in between where they were pointers square right about there. Okay. So the, the giants are more or less leaving those guys alone now that, now that we're here. Yeah. I mean like you're the bigger threat of the two. Cause again, they got like daggers and like, you know, like one spear and like a couple of bows and arrows. Like you're, you're, yeah. Malchus, Malchus shouts to the innocent people, take cover over there.

I'm a knight of Winterhaven and a man of extremely good character. So you can count on me. Also, can you represent me later? Also, do you validate parking? Would you mind coming into town on the 22nd? I've got a thing that I need. Okay. Look into it. We'll talk later. RSVP yes please. Don't forget to rate and subscribe. Don't forget to subscribe. Make sure to mention in the comments what it felt like to be rescued by Malchus Grimness. Boy, if you miss after all this, I'm going to be sad. Okay. So I'm going to count up my space. See, I have a move of six so I can go one, two.

Do I feel like I'm within his attack of opportunity reach here? Do I, is that. Oh, these guys definitely got a little reach here. They got. Okay. But is it like an opportunity kind of reach like where they could, are they? Okay. I guess I'll just try it as a minor action. I'm activating Emerald Shield. This gives me plus two AC and reflex when I click that thing. Yes. Okay. Beautiful. And then I'm going to start walking. Tell me if they hit me. One, two, three. Yeah. Hold on a second. He's got a reach of two. So. Oh no. I'm going to put myself where I want to be. And if he kills me all along the way, just like move my body back.

I don't think he's going to kill you. Let's. Okay. So this would. Knock on wood. Boy, they're rolling high. Okay. 27. I do do do do do. He's not adjacent, so that doesn't count, but I can do infernal wrath. I believe. An enemy within 10 squares of you hits you. Yes. Free action. Infernal wrath. I would target him. Control left click. I would click the level. Do do do do level. It's level 11 that it shifts to the next thing. Yeah. So I use the second one. All right. Infernal wrath. Okay. He gets burnt for five days. That much damage. Yes. Okay. And did I soak my damage from.

Yeah. Yes. Okay. Got hit. So let's man. I feel like it's been forever since I've been at this table. Okay. Blade of annihilation. Soul leader. That's my base thing. That's the thing that gives me like a bonus to my attack role if I hit with it. Okay. Blade of annihilation. Spring. Shadowy. It's very dramatic. The people over there impressed. And then I swing it and I'm targeting him. So I should just go like that. Oh. And I soup a plus two for flanking. Is that. Oh yeah. You do get combat advantage. Yeah. You're flanking. Oh, that's still gonna miss. Damn. Okay. Well, I'm in position and he's flanked.

So bad news for him. That'll end my turn. Okay. Well, the good news is you're getting the, you're definitely getting the attention of these. Yeah. You're definitely getting attention. One, two, three, four, five, six. Clearly the one in all the armor is the one to pay attention to. Clearly. And this, this man, this giant is going to raise this big makeshift club into the air and try and bring it down on Theo. That will hit 36 damage. That will bloody Theo. That will more than bloody you. Aria your turn. This is already going pretty badly. Like I'm just trying to think.

Yeah. Okay. So she's gonna do freight train last time. So she's going to kind of bunker down and lots and lots of glow yellow stuff kind of encasing her body and then just shoot towards just the one that's right in front of her. I swear to God at this. This probably is cause just my life, but control click and that's going to hit. Okay. So I see you streak by like, whoa. Yeah. It's not that far. So it's not as impressive as it could have been, but you know, it's the hit that matters. And so we'll go ahead and do that. 42 damage. Which only wounds him. So that's not promising, but yeah, I'm guessing he's not medium or smaller.

No, no, no, no, no, no. But you are going to push him back quite a few spaces. Oh, I am. Okay. Good. So I actually did do something else. Like he's probably not going to move at all, but like, okay. That's going to push him back by five, one, two, three, four, five. That is going to push him into this. Oh no. I fucked up. No, no, no, no. One, two, three, four, five. Usually that would knock him prone, but obviously they're too big for that, but they will knock him into that crowd. So they might have a pretty good shot at stabbing at him. Oh, okay. Okay. I was like, and he hit five of them and they're all dead now.

Yeah. Think of them as like a swarm type of thing. They're like, Oh shit. Like they got enough. Yeah. Get him. Stab, stab, stab, stab. That is quite a bit of damage. That's pretty damn good. I'm helping. Anything else? No, I mean that's daily. So like after like she hits it's sense of flying, she's going to be like, there's no more glowy stuff. And she's just going to kind of look a bit like that took a lot out of her. This hill giant is going to take it basically like in the gut region, just like and just dig into the dirt and try to stop him. But he's going to slide back aggressively, not fall prone, but that definitely that, that walloped him pretty good.

That'll bring up Theo. Boy, Theo doesn't have a ton of arrows in his quiver. So he is going to take his sword, his dad's sword. He's going to target the battle chief and he is going to slash that will hit. Holy shit. 22 damage to the battle chief. Yay Theo. And that will, I was just checking the numbers. To V. Alrighty. Okay. So first thing I'm going to need my token for my bear. My dog bear thing. All right. I think I'm actually going to, I'm going to need two tokens. So I'm going to, Oh, I can move that. Cool. I'm going to plop one there. And then I'm also going to, so you're going to see her kind of like summing up the blue energy that you guys saw before, and it's going to like form the dog figurine next to Malchus.

And then another one, cause I'm also going to use my daily spirit summons to pop up a second one. Yes. Thank you. I want it by us. Okay. Cause it gives allies bonuses. And then I'm going to go ahead and do war chieftain's blessing. I'm going to just like shout in some elven that I'm attacking him and it's going to, yay. Okay. So that'll give us 23 damage. Sweet. And then until the end of the encounter, you and your allies gain a plus two bonus to attack rolls against the target. So and it's all allies adjacent to spirit companions. Nice. Very nice. Anything else?

That would be all I can do. I think, how do I turn that on though? This guy, I think. Did that work? I think so. Yeah. Sweet. I think so. That should work. So you guys all feel super like inspired. Yeah. So the end of the round, this other hill giant here is pushed into that crowd. You're going to, these guys look kind of like just scraggly and kind of like, you know, not shaved. It looks like they've been on the road for a while, but you know what I mean? Maybe they're a little nomadic, whatever. And they're just having a bad time right now. And they are going to stab at this hill giant and let's see, they're going to do 13 damage to the hill giant.

Good job. They're trying guys. They're trying. Some of us aren't, you know, battle hard. Oh no. That will bloody the... Oh no. Nathan, no. Oh boy. Okay let me see something here. Okay. What's going to happen is this, this hill giant is going to, as a result of being bloody, he's going to spin around with this club and just try and catch a couple of them. And he is going to take out two more. So right now there are three people left. Couple of them are scattered. There may be one that kind of got up and hobbled away, but yeah, there are four left alive, three in the actual, like right here next to the giant.

So that will bring up Anvin. I just want to say that as that happens, Arya is going to gasp and kind of almost look like she, she was the one that got hit a bit. So Anvin looks at the current battlefield and he's going to activate lightning in the blood where basically there's like lightning arcs that go through my veins and flashes in my eyes. I don't know how to activate. There's nothing to activate. It's just a minor. It always happens. Then he's gonna, he sees the war, the battle chief over there and wants him to get away from everybody because he's causing way too much damage.

And so he's going to use thunder slam, which basically shoots a shockwave of sound that sends it to the enemy target one creature and pushes the target three squares. If it hits, let's see if I get lucky. All right. Under slam. Oh, that'll hit. Nice makeup for that last roll. And then wow. 29. Nice. Oh no. That is to the battle chief? Yes. Oh no. Push him back three squares. Okay. Hold on a second. Let me do this. So it was to the battle chief, not to the avalanche. Right? Yes. Oh crap. I thought you had said the other guy. So let's see. That's going to push him back three squares, correct?

Yes. So one, two, three. As a result of being bloodied. At least he's not next to Theo anymore. Sadly he's next to Malkus. Yeah. And Malkus and the bear, I guess, or bear dog, dog bear. Dog? Dog. Sorry. Battle chief, target that. And battle axe, 33. Yeah, that'll hit. 30. So that'll bloody Malkus. What are the stats? Like you do. I forget the stats on dog. Oh, nevermind. Critmas. Pretty sure. Oh, okay. We're good. We're fine. Anything else, Anvin? Oh, as immediate reaction, I reflexive hell strike. Okay. Level. Okay, so I only use the basic one, which looks like that. 11 damage.

Fire. That will do it for my turn. So this battle chief is looking really rough, guys. Like really, really rough. Battle chief's turn. Real quick, Jason, you need to roll damage for that because it can be targeted, but it doesn't have an AC. It just matters how much damage is done. So if you do 10 plus half my level or higher amount of damage, then the spirit disappears and I take five plus half my level damage. So it automatically hits no matter what. Yeah, it basically auto hits. Okay. So roll your... Yeah. So it's gone and I'm going to take 11 points of damage then.

Sorry. That's okay. I was just double checking it. So I appreciate your honesty. Yeah, about that. Oh, wow. Okay. Boy, howdy. Okay. Oh boy. Okay. Come on, my body is ready. Do it. I'm going to raise his axe and try to bring it down on Malkus. Of course he would. That's going to miss. She was going to be like... I feel alive. I picture Malkus nimbly dodging this big clumsy axe strike and that thing just kind of like just tears the ground apart next to him and just okay. That will bring up Malkus. Okay. First thing Malkus is doing, iron aspect of dissipators. So for the next turn I have resist five of all damage and ignore force movement.

So that happens first. It's my miner. Yeah. Okay. Then we're going to... Let's see. Blazing Doom of the Void. That's ranged, isn't it? No, it's melee. But these guys have like sky high fortitude. So oh yeah, Curse of the Fire Soul. That's the range thing. Except I'm kind of up in their faces. So I'm going to do ass fortitude. This thing is again real quick. Oh that's right. I can make my move action another miner, right? Okay. Malkus burns his daily infernal invocation to recover hit points as though he had spent two healing surges. That's why it's a daily, folks.

So I will click... Jason, you don't do it. I do it and I do it by clicking that. I do not want to heal the building in battle chief. Thank you. How do we back that up? You handed the sandwich? Okay, hold up. I got it. I got you. That really shouldn't be built. And then I should control left click to remove the target. No, no. I should... How do I... You click yourself. Yeah, you go. Target you. And then you do... Okay. Better. Okay. Back to full health if it... No? Oh, that's the... Okay, that's the giant... That's the battle chief's healing surge value, I guess. Okay. Weird.

That's one way to discover his hit point total. I mean, accident. That's what that is. Okay. So I have resist five all damage. I ignore force movement. I just healed two healing surge values. So now Malkus is all like, "Who's next?" Like he's passionate about combat. And so he's going to hit the hill giant battle chief. Soul leader. Get it. Picture... Why did it throw it twice? Well, we're gonna count the first one, which is a crit. Is it trying to confirm? Crit or... No, you... Oh, wait. No, you have yourself targeted still. Oh. You had yourself targeted. No, no. Now you just targeted yourself.

It untargeted you because you missed. Okay. Because next is damage and everything. But don't worry about that. Because I crit him. Yeah, you worry about that fucking crit. So I picture this battle chief like the axe goes into the ground and it misses you and he's just doing the thing where it's like trying to tug it back out. Meanwhile, you're gonna hit the shit out of him. First I went colossus mode and got covered by hellish iron and then all my wounds closed up. And then I just opened up a camp. Okay. So hold shift. Roll damage. Hold shift. Roll damage. 25 damage.

That will kill the battle chief. All right. Mecha grimness is on the field. I just picture Malchus like, I have more important things to do today. I'm done with your shit, motherfucker. Don't forget to rate, comment and subscribe. Real giant avalanche witness. Witness his friend and partner die. Oh, darn. I feel so bad for him. He's going to target Malchus. He is going to. He's going to crushing charge. Well, it's not going to move me because I ignore force movement. You may not want to. No, no, no. I got this. You also just healed yourself. Thank God. Yeah. I believe.

Hey, look, check the annotations for a link to me killing the hill giant avalanche. That's the next. Oh my God. This group though is going to get is going to get an opportunity attack against the damage that didn't roll into the box. Is that what I'm saying? Yeah. Didn't roll into the box. Bloop. 24. That's not going to. That's not going to do it. Sadly. I was counting on the peasants. I was. We tried. So. Oh boy. All right. He's going to. He is going to barrel down and just throw his shoulder into this and run at Malchus and he is going to hit. Well, he's going to try to.

Let's see. A 23 will miss. I will trigger. Yep. It only needs to be an attack. It doesn't have to hit. My Emerald Shield sears him with radiant light as he attempts to hit me. Oh. So I. What's that? Is that 11? 11. Let me click it. 11. I remember that. Okay. So if he was charging Malchus and he missed, would he like keep going? Is it like high jump kick? That was a Pokemon reference. I understood it. I picture it more like him bouncing. That's where it should be, and he's just going to throw a shoulder and just kind of like have that thing where you're just sort of like off balance for a second.

It's like, whoa. Like that thing wasn't. He looks really dumb. He looks foolish as a minor action. He looks foolish. I think it's a free action. As a free action, I say to him, "herp derp hill giant." Don't antagonize him. As a result of being infuriated, Aria, do me a favor, roll a charging roll. Yeah. So as she's still kind of like looking at where the bodies are, but she's going to focus her attention on the remaining hill giant, kind of grit her teeth and try to summon up something. So we'll see how it is. So that'll be a plus five to the next attack if it hits.

Oh, really? That's nice. So Theo is not going to stand by and let his good buddy Malkus get assaulted by some fucking hill giant. Oh, damn it, dude. Too good. Three right there, side by side with his buddy. He is going to target the hill giant. He is going to try and slash at it. He will miss, but he tried and that is the important thing to take away from this. I break into a bridge over troubled water when I see him arrive because that's what he is to me. That's what he is to us all. To Veen. Okay. I am going to move my bear, my dog. So I'm going to command it to run up there.

It's going to like, it doesn't even look like it's running. It's more like floating and just kind of like, "Ooh, she's over." And then I'm going to summon up a healing spirit on Theo. So he gets to use a healing surge. Nice. God, he could use it. And then Malkus, you have the option of regaining 1d6 hit points as well. Is there an alternative? Is it the option of that or something else or is it just... Just the hit points. Okay. I wouldn't say not. It's because he used them. Yeah, I would say when they say the option, usually it's like, "Or not." I mean, if you don't want to, but yeah, it's because you're adjacent to my spirit animal.

I regenerate. And then I'm going to go ahead and do a defending strike. So I got to control click. I'm going to use my roaring bear totem. Rawr. Trying to figure out how this all works though. So one extra health for Malkus. Yes. Hey, you know what? No. It's a physical charge, okay? Yeah, dude, every unit, every bit. It's between life and death. That'll hit. Sweet. That's been the difference between life or death from Malkus before. It's actually, I command my spirit companion and he does like this swipe at it. And then he's going to do some damage. Definitely going to be straight.

Awesome. Lots of damage there. That's 10. Very, very nice. Hey, hey, hey. But until the end, you and your allies gain a plus one power bonus to AC while adjacent to spirit companion. So you and you get a nice, did I do? Yeah. Why did I click that? I didn't mean to click that. I was trying to click the little zombie guy. That's okay. So we need to do more than 23 damage to kill it. Now we know that. You guys, I feel like you're cheating. I feel like... We're not cheating. We're just being observant. Okay. And that's all I can do. So this mob of three, it's not really a mob anymore.

Every time you say that. They're going to circle back around here and try to attack. They're not running away. They're trying to help you take this down now. They're going to... There's less of them, so it's going to be 2d10s now instead of 2d20s. And they're going to do five damage. Every little bit helps. Every little bit helps. That's basically where we're at. Great job, little oputions. And that'll bring up Amden. All right. So Am is going to do storm walk. Let me see if this actually works. So target him. Let me get a good idea to start. See if this hits. Oh god, that'll hit.

Excellent. So what I see it as... This is where he has a thunder and my steps batters my foes. What I see it as, he focuses his energy through his feet and lightning starts arcing through the ground and hits Hill Giant. Actually legally, we have to get you to say the thing. Kelsey is right. The storm walk? What do you mean? You rolled a 19. Oh, almost a crit. Oh my goodness. There we go. Oh, I was like, what are you talking about? Oh, let me look at the... When I saw the 19 was like, roll like, ah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I know what's up. All right. Let's see, storm walk.

That's 10 damage. And then I guess I get that one more roll because... Yes. Yeah, it's a D8. Looks like. Bam, hey. Hey. Yeah, this... He is not looking good, guys. Not good at all. Rocking back and forth his feet. Is there anything else? Oh, the... That's it. Yep. Okay, Malchus. Malchus is gonna get the kill probably. Yes. It's excellent for my building my character references. I hope they're all watching. Oh, okay. Yeah. Rachel's saying, "Taveen's healing should have been 3d6, not 1d6." I'm gonna kill this guy. Like, what's a couple of hit points here and there? Balls on you.

Let me get the job done here and then make those hit points moot. Let's do that. Again, if you miss. Watch me do it. No, the sad thing is I'm looking through my powers list. I'm like, "Wow, I have a lot of stuff that targets fortitude. That's bad for giants." Like that's why you can't use that on giants. These are skills that don't translate. Yeah, it's just not helping me. So I'm gonna target and then I'm gonna soul eater. With... Well, okay. You have an action point. Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Was I carrying a power bonus for something or was that a temporary thing for accuracy?

Two attack and one AC. Come to me. Yeah, got it. You're good. Okay, so does a 26 hit? No, it's already out of tune. Yeah, it's already. It's in there. Okay. In that case, I'm trying to remember where my action points are if I wanted to... Oh, there we go. AP used. There you go. Plus two. Yeah, okay. Just making sure. Okay. So I'm gonna fire up my action point. It goes like that and then... Okay, I know fortitude is high for these guys 'cause that's just their nature, but I've got an encounter power called Curse of the Fiery Soul and I feel like... No, no, no, I'm sorry.

That's not the one 'cause that's ranged. Blazing Doom of the Void. Blazing Doom of the Void. Yeah, yeah. Where it's like fire and necrotic damage. It's like... You'd call it like Blightfire or something, right? If you were coming up for a name for fire and necrotic damage. So Malkus ignites his Blade of Annihilation with a cloud of pure Blightfire. And then he takes his swing here. Blazing Doom of the Void, attack roll. I'm targeting, yes. Yes. Okay. Here we go. Swing. That's a natural one. That's... Watch this. Is that where I'm walking away? I wanted a notable kill.

Another, I mean another one. Like I already killed one of them. I just, you know, they're like shoes. They come in pairs. So... Right, right. I guess... You're just leaving some for us. I'm hoping he swings at me 'cause then I can Emerald Shield Scorch him again and maybe that'll... Oh, I don't think that's a problem. Oh, he's mad? You've swung at him twice and you killed his friend. So yeah, like I don't think that's a... Okay, I've been picking on you. Okay. Yeah. Well, we'll see what happens. Okay. You're a bully. You kind of are. You done? Yeah. One man's bully is another man's hero.

That's... Yes, I'm done. Not to the Hill Giant community. Hill Giant is going to raise his great club. He's going to try and bring it down on Malchus. That is gonna miss. More like average club, right? Okay. Does 11 radiant damage kill him? That will kill the giant. Zing! I got him. Zing. A giant slayer twice over. You lured him into a false sense of security. I got him. That... May I say that is a clever plan. Look grossly incompetent and then you strike. That is genius. Well, yes, I do things like this regularly because I'm a tiefling of good character. I hope you're all doing all right.

This actually goes over and checks on the survivors. He makes this campaign. He's in campaign mode. So Malchus is checking on the survivors here, right? The three there left? Yes, he is. Okay. Well, there's going to be two human males and a female tiefling. The female tiefling seemed to be the team's archer. Not frailer, but the two other guys, just very disheveled looking, very like patchy beards and stuff. They've been out. Look, I'm going to be honest with you. They got a bit of a smell to them. Like a touch. They've been out in the wild for a while probably.

And then maybe they haven't had the ability to... Maybe they haven't had the ability to get showers or baths or anything like that recently. But this female tiefling is going to run up to Malchus and just wrap her arms around him. Oh, thank you so much. Thank you. I'm so glad your team got here when they did. And Malchus just like, he stands very tall and he like places one arm around her, like with his cloak on his hand so that she's like shrouded in the full like cloaking protection of Malchus Grimnus. And he says, "It's all right. You're safe now." Head of the king, baby.

Is it too much? No, no, it's just... I think it's more like, "Okay." Like it's more like, "Well, you saved this. So cool." I mean, Malchus, he needs character references. So he's in like full marketing, like personality campaign mode. Absolutely. Can we confirm that there is no way that Malchus isn't like covered in giant blood? Yeah, he was pretty close to the action, but like not dripping with probably spattered, lightly spattered. It's like Dragon Age blood. Yeah. Right. There you go. That's good. Lovely. Splash zone blood. Yeah. These other two dudes are going to look to Theo because Theo looks to be the most banged up of you guys.

And one of them is going to be kind of balding. Like just a bigger dude, but like, yeah, not pretty. Kind of covered in tattoos and stuff. I get a lot of like neck to face tattoos, like almost up to the eyes. And he's going to sort of like, you know, make sure Theo is standing up straight and just sort of like slam him on the shoulders and just like, "Man, you took a pounding!" And just sort of like kind of grab him into like a hug and just kind of like that after game celebration thing. And he's going to sort of like be almost draped around him in the back, like from behind, just like, "Yeah, this guy!" That type of thing.

Does he need to roll for damage? No. He's not that for it. Plus he's wearing like... I don't know. A tiger tank worth of armor. Like basically just... Make sure it doesn't fall down. Everyone do me a favor. What? Okay. Is there anything you'd like to say to these people or anything before we move on or is it basically like is Malka going to ask them to? Like after the battle, like Aria is like, she's like just like charged up and ready to go, that's kind of like literally sputtered out. And she's going to kind of like sort of like lightly grab Tabin's arm almost, and they're like motioned towards the people that aren't getting up.

She's not going to say anything, but just she looks upset, but she's going to have like sort of like... Like we gotta do something. Yeah. So, Sabine would like just kind of nod quietly and start walking over to like the nearest unconscious person being hopeful. Not the balding dude, but the guy with the long hair and scraggly beard. What are you doing? Well, we wanted to check on your comrades to see if they're okay or if we need to start helping dig a hole or what you guys wish to do with your comrades. Oh, they're fine. They're fine. Don't don't don't trouble yourself.

You you've already done way too much. Don't don't worry. Hey, Jason. Is there like like after hearing some of that, is there a way I can like gain any... I don't know if it's perception or insight. I guess I kind of figure out what like something like hiding from. Yeah, sure. Go right ahead. Can I as well? Because yeah, please. That's shady as fuck. I would too, but I think R is too out of it. Oh, Sabine. If I can find the right button. There we go. Got it. Everyone except for Theo, who I'm not even going to bother rolling Theo's insight. I don't think he'd be in the right like Theo and Aria.

Everyone except for those two. That's going to hit your ear a little weird. And you're going to you're going to notice a couple of like subtle things like the second that Tavine started to go towards the other the other members of the group who maybe didn't make it, you could see he tensed up a bit like, what are you doing? That type of thing. And they're going to start glancing at each other nervously. Do me a favor, you three roll a perception check. While that's happening, can Malkus unhug the person who's wrapped around him? Just peel her off like explore.

She is extremely affectionate. So it would take a little doing. There we go. Tavine is going to notice something interesting. Originally, it looked like there were eight people here. Now, two of those people were dressed very differently than, let's say, the three people you're talking to now. They appear to be much more put together. They looked cleaner and they're dead. As you guys are as you guys are, I would imagine like everyone's just kind of like stopped for for a second. So I don't think like Aria would have registered when the dude started talking.

So like she would have kept walking them into being stopped, kind of like look back and like kind of like tugging on their arm. Like, what's up? Like why are we talking? Like, let's go do the thing. So like she's not really fully focused or like aware of what's happening. Yeah, if you're if you're talking about her shirt, she's just kind of like, you know, do that thing where you put like your hand on like the other person's hand. Like hold on one second. Like that like cautionary like look like something's not right. Yeah. Spider senses are tingling. When Tavine kind of like motions Aria will like stop and kind of look in between like to Tavine in the document.

She'll look in between like to me and the guy just kind of look a bit confused because like she's not picking up what's happening. But yeah, that's something that matters to me. So she's turned him and just give like a slight nod and then look at the guy that's talking. Is there any particular reason we shouldn't try to help your fallen comrades? More glancing at each other? Malchus will stride over and turn over one of the nicer dressed bodies. OK, as you're as you're as you're walking over the female tieflings like you don't you don't have to do like she's going to like it's going to change from like really grateful clingy to like don't like just that just don't just don't or, you know, don't.

They don't look like they were one. OK, one, they don't look like they were in the same party to. These people were killed, but not by not by giants. It seems as though several stab wounds took out these people. And as Malchus does that, you remember that balding gentleman who is congratulating Theo? He's going to take Theo on a very tight embrace from behind and bring a knife up to his throat. Shit. Um, I. And he's he's going to. All right. We are having a very bad day. It looks like we're having a bit of a situation here. So here's what's going to happen.

Everyone drop your weapons. Place any valuables on the floor. And walk away. I've got a counterproposal. If you put a knife through my friend, I will reduce you to cinders with annihilating hellfire. So you put yours down. Intimidate? Sure. Yeah. Give me an intimidate. I feel really bad that you're doing this because. Go ahead. Go ahead and do it. Ah, low roll. He's going to. Well. How about this? We kill your friend. And you're going to feel really bad. Knowing you could have prevented it. By just handing over some gold. Aria is going to run up and force punch in. OK.

Now here's the thing. This this this is OK. You have to close a gap. Yeah. Actually. It's right there. I mean, we're also moving up closer to any reason. It's not the speed. OK, good. Does she have to close a gap? Because I have a skill that I can teleport a person and exchange places with my dog, which is still on the field right next to it. No, no, no. It's OK to be. I'll just force blast instead, actually, because that's more immediate, which is much more instinctive, which is what I'm going for anyway. So that's actually makes more sense. You do realize if you miss, Theo could die.

Yeah, I feel like she committed. Like, yes, I do. But it's the thing it's like like this is what she would do. I mean, it's kind of like at this point, like she just went through kind of an emotional ringer and then this is happening. It's just like this is just like immediate response. I guess it's instinct like no. OK, like that's. Here we go. So let's do this. Hold on. Like I'm just like like I'm just explaining things that it's not like I'm right behind you. I'm right behind you, Kelsey. Kelsey doesn't want to do this. That's what I'm trying to say. It's not.

She's she's quick drawn on him. Like this is just like pure no. Emotional response. Yeah, like. Well, here's what we're going to do. We're going to do some things. We're going to do. So let's say. This hits. It's going to be really cool. But since I said that. Oh, here's the thing. So like Malchus would be like rates, let's say here and the archer would have been back here where Malchus. Hold on a second. I'm going to say like that bandit over there. So the balding dude is right behind Theo. Has him grabbed knife up to his throat. So here's the situation. I'm going to let Aria do the thing.

If Aria hits, then this bandit goes flying. Theo is no longer grabbed. And I'll just have you guys roll initiative or whatever. If Aria misses, the Skullcrusher bandit gets to retaliate, leaving Theo wide open for a coup de grace. Are you ready? Yep, I got I have to do it. Just like I can't not do that because this is that like it's. Fuck it. I wish you all the luck. Oh my God. Fuck this shit. God. Oh wow. Oh boy. Everyone's going to hate us now. Do we have any like reroll powers? Do we have does anyone have anything like that? Oh my head keeps disconnected. I kind of want to do.

Okay. Wait, Jason, can I use can't can't lose the moniker. That knows she's not in between two spaces. Nope. It doesn't matter. God damn it doesn't matter. I really would be really cool to use lockstep, but I don't know. I sort of broke it down because it's that you guys are not in combat. So this would be a thing where only only Aria knew that she was going to draw and like yeah, so yeah, I had to do it like I know. Hey, I understand. God. Just do the thing. Oh, all right. So here's what's going to happen. So he's going to take this dagger and Aria is going to blast and go wide.

And it is just going to it is going to fire in between the two bandits and as a result in a panic the bandit is going to rake this blade across Theo's throat. And do 42 damage to Theo. He was going to start gushing blood from his throat and he is going to drop to the ground. That will not quite be enough to drop Theo and kill him instantly, but he is unconscious. He will continue to bleed each round though. So I am going to have you guys roll initiative. Well actually, you know what? I'll just have them roll initiative and join the... Oh man, that leaves me at the bottom of the track.

You know what? This is a new encounter. It's a new encounter, which means encounter powers are restored. Okay, I'll let you reroll initiative. Oh, damn it. So but if encounter powers aren't resetting, then buffs are still in place? Yeah, buffs are still in place. Okay, cool. So I have some of those. So we're rerolling initiative. Yep, go ahead and roll initiative. Okay. Oh, I actually got above a 20. I rolled high two. Oh, Amvin. It's okay, that was the first round. I don't need to show off anymore. So we basically just switched. Yes. I feel horrible. Just finish them off in one round.

We'll be fine. Target Archer is going to target Arya. Crossbow that is going to hit 13 damage. Skullcrusher Bandit is going to move toward Arya. Target Arya, swing his mace and miss. Malkus, your turn. Okay. And is this red square over here? Is that the tiefling woman? The red square by the pond? Yes. Okay. Does she appear to be in combat? Is she? Oh yes. Yeah, she is taking up arms. Yeah, she just fired at Arya. Okay. Malkus will scoot about yay and Skullcrusher Bandit. And we're going to do Curse of the Fiery Soul, which is the thing where I throw my Lance of Fire at him.

So it'll be a little something like that. 25. That'll hit. Yeah, that'll hit. Okay. Thank goodness these guys are amateur hour. All right. 3d10 plus Charisma modifier, fire damage. I rolled high. Jesus. That's 33 damage. That will bloody him. Good. And anything I can do with mana actions. Not the case. Yeah, Malkus will have a minor action stand menacingly over Theo's body, lest anyone come at him again. T'Vine's next at least. But can I heal somebody that's downed? Yeah. Oh, you can. And it's helpful? Yeah. They go up from zero, not from whatever negative they're at.

Okay. I couldn't remember how fourth edition worked. Okay, cool. Cool. T'Vine, your turn. All right, so first she looks like mildly upset, but also extremely pissed. So minor action healing spirit. So he gets to gain a healing surge. Theo. Okay, sweet. So Malkus, you want to get 3d6 hit points this turn? Yes. I love hit points. They're my favorite. Should I just roll 3d6 independently, Jason? That's T'Vine actually. Oh, okay. Do I have to target him or something? Just roll 3d6 and Jason will do it, I think. Yep. Okay, now there's a trick. Okay, there's a trick. Three.

Oh, I don't have, hold on. I have, okay, okay, hold on. I've got like 10d6, hold on. I want three. How do you get three? Right click and find the three on the d6. I did, and then it like populated like 10. Oh wow, weird. Hey, you rolled big for me. 17? Thank you. Alright, and then I am going to, so she does the spirit healing to him and then she's gonna like narrow her gaze at the bald guy and summon up the spirit of Autumn's reaping. So it's the, you know, death-like figure just like appears behind him and swings his scythe and I need to click on him. Oh no, it's doing weird things again.

You're not me. What's going on? Okay, hold on a second. What is this? Stop trying to play other people's characters. I'm sorry. Okay. Okay, now I'm, alright. So he's going to swing at him. It's a hit. Sweet. So it's necrotic damage. So like it swings and guy just starts to like, almost looks like he's being burned by like acids that like, and then it's going to do some damages. 15 damage to the bandit. Yep. And then me and each ally within 10 squares of me regains five hit points. Everybody gets five more hit points back. Nice. Very nice. Theo can use that. I know.

So every round Theo's going to take 15 damage save ends. Alright, so I have to click everybody right and then do the thing. Oh god, don't break it. Did that work? Yep. It only went to Theo though on my screen it says. Oh wait, no it didn't. I see what it did. Okay, cool. And that's all I'm going to do. Alright. So, Evan, your turn. Alrighty. Question. Furious bolts. It has a secondary attack for like another creature? Do I get to select that secondary one or is it random? It's usually you get to select it but there's usually like some caveat within two squares or something like that.

Let me see. Furious bolts. Secondary attack one creature within 10 squares of the primary target so you get to select it. Nice. Okay. Well let's make sure I can even do this, eh? Alright, so let's take the... I was making everybody angry and myself first as primary. And attack with furious bolts. Hey, Krit. Nice. Beautiful. I believe that is correct. Alright. And then we'll do the little raindrop thingy. Bam. Gorgeous. 26 damage. And that will kill him. The big bad balding one is dead. Oh good, because he had something else on mine I forgot. But doesn't matter. Cool.

Well the best part is, if this is the same encounter, I still have that extra die. Oh wow, he's super ultra-dark of death. So I get to attack this guy. Attack him. No. That'll miss. Oh well. I tried. Yeah. Anything else? Nope, that's it. I'm done. Oh boy. This bandit is going to move up to Aria. Target. Uses mace. Oh wow, super miss. Aria, your turn. Aria is gonna... I'm gonna use enough is enough. So she's gonna kind of like, yell out and just... And then kind of like, really kind of like, just thrust out both of her hands and just push energy out towards him. And we'll see if this actually hits.

Okay, it did it. Okay. Yep. Okay. And then that. Okay. And then he's pushed four spaces and is prone. Okay, so just four spaces back away from you. Yeah. Two, three, four. Okay. And prone. And then it says a secondary attack is made. So then, well I guess, is it against him as well or just anyone surrounding him? Him and it's a burst one. Okay, so it is still against him. So it's still... Yeah. That's a crit. Oh, okay. It's not that much but... No. I don't think I can... It's 13 damage. I can't, like, because it's in the text thing, it's not letting me shift click it. So...

Or... Wait. Nope, there we go. Okay. It's an extra 13 damage. That did a shitload to the bandit. Um... Frick. Yeah, I mean, no, never mind, never mind, I'm done. No? She's done, yep. Hm. Theo is going to stand up, still sort of holding his throat here and there, and he is going to take another 15 damage. And... He is going to outstretch his hands, and he is going to try and cast lightning bolt at that bandit. That is going to hit the bandit. Yeah. Dramatically appropriate dice today. They are really selling things. A lightning bolt is going to arc from the sky, strike this bandit, and murder him.

Kill him instantly. He may have been dead just before it hit him. Instantly defecate himself, fried to a crisp, dead. Gone. And saving throw... And he is going to stop bleeding from the throat. Yes. Yay. Can't we just stare menacing at her? Um, yeah. Oh no. Yeah, does she ever want to fire on us? I think at that point it would be just... I think she would drop her crossbow. I think she would just stop and just put her hands up. Like, nope. Once lightning bolts start coming into flight, like, nope, fuck that. Like, no. No. And she would drop her weapon. I'm so sorry.

I'm so, so sorry. Just... Please don't kill me. Please. On the ground. She is going to very gently, like, keeping eye contact, like, okay, okay, I'm doing what you say, I'm doing what you say, please don't kill me. And she is going to lay face first on the ground near this pond. Do we have rope? Do we have... What do we have? Oh yeah, you guys got Adventurers packs, you got tons of rope. Aria's gonna immediately run towards Theo. Yeah. To be in the lead too. She's immediately, like, in this, like, like, not, like, she can't speak right now that she's, like, panicking a bit, is, like, getting him, like, like, don't stand up.

You don't want to stand up. But she's, like, like, like, getting him back on the ground and, like, trying to, like, stop the bleeding. But it's, like, there's a lot of blood on him and she's not, like, this isn't her thing. And so I might imagine, like, Tavine's, like, right there and then she can actually, like, do something. But it's, like... He, like, after the lightning bolt thing, it would almost be, like, crumbling to one knee, just, like, shaking. Like, it, just, the entire experience is way too much for Theo and he would, he would hug the shit out of Aria.

Mommy! She's gonna stop the cry. Malchus goes to Hogtai, like, hands to feet Hogtai. Right. No, um, kinda, yeah, kinda figured. Ammon's gonna go up to Theo and give him a thumbs up. You're stuck. So, so is there any kind of special, like, medicine-y check or... It would, it would just be, it would just be a heal check and everything just to... I would imagine the party would all take a few seconds, like, "Okay, that was an event!" And just start to... There's no one left alive in the area, except for you guys and, and your new friend here who's, who is being tied up by Malchus.

I see that rock on the bottom side of the lake. Can we just tie her to it and throw it in the lake? There's no alignment in your game, right? No, hey, look, it is up to you. Like, there's, I mean, seemingly no witnesses. You, I mean, it's, this is, what do you think is appropriate? What, what's going through your heads? Anger. Yeah, yeah, it's a lot of... You might hear, you might hear Tavine, like, kind of quietly ask Rob, "Do tieflings float and breathe underwater?" She's not amused. No, no, I, I understand that. Um... Eben speaks up. Isn't there any way that maybe we can turn this in our own favor?

How do you figure? Well, technically we just stopped a group of bandits on the road. Right. Unfortunately, somehow I doubt they'll be interested in assisting us with our current endeavor. Well, never said they have to be alive to make us, I mean, I don't know if they have any warrants or bounties. And then watch her for a moment. Malkus goes over to the people in nice clothing who were killed and looks for, like, identifying papers, you know, letters of, letters of association, anything that might give him an idea of who they were. Malkus is going to find an order form.

Mm-hmm. You remember how I mentioned that there was a, there was a cart in the clearing? Mm-hmm. It would appear as though they were merchants and they were delivering goods to Overdale or, you know, Overwatch. Overwatch. And at some point or another, they either got ambushed or took on some, some passengers and what happened happened. Mm. Um, can their cart be hitched to our cart in a way that we could return it to the merchants? Yeah, you could tow it, sure. Okay. Well, there's horses, right? Like, for their cart or is it just the cart and the horses are gone?

Oh no, they're, they have horses and stuff, like you can, you know. Oh, okay, so we could, we could have two carts for the, for this part of the endeavor. How far away is Overwatch? Oh, days. You got, you got, yeah. You're a few hours into your journey. Okay, so Malchus comes back over to the tiefling. You deserve to die, but you have caught me in a moment in which I must be more civil than my baser nature would suggest. So here's what's going to happen to you. Those ropes are not coming off of you. If you have to soil yourself, soil yourself. You will be fed enough to keep you alive until we get to Overwatch.

At that point, we will turn you over to the authorities and the merchants, their house will be informed that you murdered these merchants. We will explain to them your ruthlessness. And we will let the law in Overwatch do what it will with you. Your alternative is being drowned in a bag. If we have to waste the material on her. You will behave. Understood? There's going to be a bit of panic in her eye when you said that you're going to take her to Overwatch. And then when you ask if it's understood, she's going to sort of face the ground again, but like nod like, yeah, just silently though.

Just very kind of resigned to her fate, it looks like. Good. And Malchus will just like haul her up and roughly load her into the merchant cart and say to the party, I'll drive this one. Before we get on the road, should we at least gag her as well so she can't scream out or draw any more attention than we already probably will have on us with two carts? Do. Yes. I can't say this hard is not paid any attention at all. I'm just like sitting here. Gosh, you guys are awesome. By the way, it's like this is me, man. I would say at a certain point, Theo would kind of compose himself enough.

And again, like just he would be for a while just holding onto Aria for dear life. Oh, yeah. She's she's like not letting go. Like, it's not like, like, no. And he he's gonna he's gonna try and stand up and he's gonna start to make his way over to that pond. And then grab a piece of cloth and wet it and start to try and wipe the large amount of excess blood that would be all over his face and neck and just dripping. Like it would it would have like poured under his armor and everything like I was a lot of blood. Like he's very just weak and in shock. And yeah, he's not doing great.

Aria would like help him and everything. And she's like constantly like looking him over to make sure it's like he's not still dying from something else. Like, yeah. And then should maybe take the armor off to like, she's kind of like festering like not. Yeah. Yeah. Malchus will step up to Theo now that we've got the tiefling loaded and gagged and he's got the papers from the merchants to identify them. And Malchus will come up to Theo and say, are you all right, friend? And he's kind of got this some this thousand yard stairs he's sort of wiping off and he's making eye contact with people, but you could just tell like it's not he's not there.

He's not engaged in the conversation so much. It's just and there's going to be this this long pause, almost mouth agape for a while. And he's going to he's going to nod. Yeah, I. Yeah. I have not in all my time on the road like this seen someone cheat death the way you just did. And Malchus will just walk up and pull him into a hug. Oh, yeah, he'll yeah, he'll he'll hug real hard. And Malchus says, Malchus will say. I thought we'd lost you. I'm I'm glad you made it. And you can see him kind of tear up as he's like just like nodding his head vigorously and.

I shouldn't let strangers get so close like that, and I didn't I was thinking it was really stupid. We were all deceived. We were all deceived. It's okay. And Malchus will release him and go to Aria and say, Hey, look at me. You weren't wrong. You just missed. She's going to start crying again. And he'll he'll pull her into a hug to. Oh, man. Like I was like, it's like I was like legitimately kind of like wondering if he was going to like yell at her. No, no, no. Yeah, yeah, it's good. Yeah, she's just yeah. And then Malchus will check on Tevin who doesn't seem quite the same like emotional peak that these other two are at.

But. Yeah, she probably would still be maybe like looking over the other bodies just to see what else. And when if Malchus does approach her, she'll kind of turn and be like, are they are they doing okay? Yes, because of you quite specifically. Just because now it's. Very lucky for all of us that things turned out the way they did or else. Yeah, that tiefling would probably be floating at the moment and she looks like she's like cooled down a little bit. You know, you don't see the the bulging veins and her temples anymore. She's just like, yeah. Do we want to take a little breather here before we continue or do we just want to get back on the road?

Do you think? Let's let's take a breather for a moment. This has been heavy on all of us, but don't don't put too much of it on luck. You were sharp. You were responsive. He's here because you because you did well. Thanks. I think we all did pretty well in that instance. Maybe maybe we shouldn't keep stopping for people. It seems to not want to work out for us. Sometimes. It goes poorly like this. But. There have been other scenarios where we've done good before. I promise it's not always this bad theory is a scary place. Yes. A very wicked place at times. But let's not give up on all that just yet.

We had good instincts with what we did. We just ran into the wrong people. Yeah, I suppose you're right. Not everybody can completely be awful, I suppose. Do you have any particular plan for what you wish to do with these bodies or are you content with me just kind of laying them out nicely and saying a few words? She's going to motion to the two noble merchant type people, not to the bandits specifically. Right. I think I think your quick method in this case is best. And then he'll turn to Anvin. Anvin looks over at you. So. Trial by fire traveling with us, huh?

You do make things interesting. Your magic, it's strong. You were good out there. Thank you. And Anvin's got like that look where he's like, you know, just waiting to see if there's something that could come from another tree or like just anything else that could pop out. So he's like in that like still looking. Just head on swivel. Let's let's make sure because he's got his powers ready just in case, just in case. But he's good. It doesn't turn out this messy every time, but I can guarantee you if you keep traveling with us, there will be more occasions like this.

Are you still in? I wouldn't stop this, even if I was in Theo's position. I got to see what you guys can do in this situation. And I have so many notes I can enter into my notepad for this. And it's more than just what I write. It's I feel like there's such a cohesion already that I don't know even part of the group. Really, I just met you. But there's there's definitely more of a bond between the group than just our magic is what I've found so far. You're wrong about one thing. You watched our backs and we watched yours. You are part of the group now. And Malkus will reach out to give him a handshake.

Anvin responds and smirks at the same time. Let's rest just a little longer, everyone. And once we've composed ourselves and reminded ourselves of how lucky we are not just to survive, but to have each other's backs. We'll move along. So like a little picnic thing, like you're eating? I'm just picturing like washing blood. Well, I was going to say too, after after Tavine kind of lays out the bias and just kind of like she'll mumble, just, you know, some kind of like mostly like a prayer to like the nature god that she follows. Is it Melora? Yes. OK. I couldn't remember the name.

You know, she'll just say like a calm prayer, like something like, you know, take this the bodies and like help reap a better harvest or something along those lines. And then she's actually going to go back to their cart or carriage and bring it up closer and then dig around in it while everybody's getting cleaned up and stuff and pull out one of the pies that she had and kind of bring it out, like offer it almost as like a morale booster. Like, hey, is anybody hungry? And just kind of like you're trying to kind of lift everybody's spirits a little bit.

Let's have no fatalities pie. No fatalities pie. No complete fatalities pie. Jason, just how close was he? Theo? Yeah. Six hit points. That was not that was that was stupid close. Like, yeah, just that I had to redo math. I'm like, because I did. Dude, I didn't want to deliver that news. Holy shit. I was already prepping myself for it. No, it was gonna be it was gonna be huge. I mean, it's like someone shooting a puppy of Theo dies. Like that's it's yeah. That was a broken Aria. Like, I'm just gonna say like that would have been like done. God, that was incredibly important.

Oh my God. I picture us all sitting like, you know, the end of Avengers, Avengers when they're like sitting and eating shawarma. Yeah. There will be. So the way the way healing works in theory, it's like, yes, he's he's mended, but there will always be a scar on Theo's throat. Like a horizontal scar that runs the length that just all the way across his throat. That will always be there. Like ear to ear kind of thing. Ladies like the scars. That's nothing else. He's got a story. Yeah, that's the closest he's ever come to death. Be it with the party or beyond.

Like that is the absolute because like it's like he's been knocked around and like dented and stuff. And there's been definitely the threat that like that's one of those that's one of those things you probably walk away. It's like I should be dead. Like I that I should not be here. Can you imagine if he does go back to right where it'll be in almost might seem too small for him? Like he'll go back and be like this. Yeah. It's parallel. You can't go back to the Shire now. Like you can't like, you know. Yeah. I mean, we can do some killing surges and stuff. Oh, yeah.

That's the next. Yeah. Next thing. Like, let's let's give everybody a rest. You're applying that right? I don't have to apply that. I just want one used. Okay. How many? I have six per day. I mean, there we go. I spent mine. Yay. Do you want to use one? Like, like my wounds are like half of what healing surge. Like I'm like, should I use? I guess I should. Yeah. Right. Everyone. Like tomorrow you get them all back. So it's. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, there's a lot of day left, but probably not like five fights or something. That's true. That's true. He said with optimism that it's not merited by the scenario.

Have I ever tossed five fights at you? We're not playing actual 4e guys. Later that day. Round two. I have two dots next to my action point. Now that wasn't there before. Like, I don't know. Oh, you get two action points. I know I do. But like, I didn't have two dots before. Like just now when I went back to my powers. I don't know why the table is a fickle mistress. I have two dots. Jason triggered a milestone. Yeah. Oh, maybe that's why. That makes sense. That makes a lot of sense. Holy shit. Theo has two surges. Two surges remaining. Okay. So you guys are hanging out and like you're kind of you're getting your things together.

I guess it hit the road. You want to talk first? I think Anvin will tell Theo that if he ever wants to talk about his power, that I am always willing to talk. Because he has the lightning power that he saw. Yeah. Anvin kind of sees like almost like a connection. Like, oh, we have something in common. And now that I've seen it instead of like, oh, at the bar you talked about it. But there was no visual proof. And then how it was just badass. So he was like, we can talk about it anytime you want. In any other circumstance that I don't think he's ever been able to focus that well is the thing.

Like it took a near death experience to even like it's like, fuck that guy in particular like that, that type of thing. And I think it wasn't even more about like vengeance or anything. It was just like, I don't want anybody else to get hurt. So but he would. He's too good. He lines up perfectly with my notes. And he would he just sort of nod his head. Sure. Yeah. We could talk tonight if you want. Definitely. And he would just kind of confirm that with like, OK, just like a kind of vigorous head nod. Like, sure. Again, still a little spacey, but not like not as bad as it was earlier.

Yeah. It's definitely just a way for him to kind of feel like there's an opening between them. So it's like, you know, hey, Chad, any time kind of like come on, camaraderie and. Right now, here's a here's a fun thing, guys. Do me a favor. Roll a perception check. Where to go? The giants will go to say five, but he didn't say anything about three. Five hill giants in a trench coat are going to descend from the mountains. There was actually no black dragon who was just like Bill Tinsley, the entire time they fought. They formed Mecca Hill Giants. Aria is going to find.

OK, so there's there. I don't think anybody was paying too much attention to the bandit bodies and stuff, like in terms of like giving them a proper burial, that type of thing. Oh, hell no. Yeah, no, I don't think that. But scattered about near like it looks like what may have happened was after the after the the merchants were attacked and murdered. The hill giants may have just been an unfortunate. Like think of that as a random encounter for the bandits, like sadly, they were in the middle of murdering and robbing and suddenly hill giants like, oh, shit.

So that's what they were dealing with when you happened upon them. And as a result, they talked what some of the things they stole aside near a rock kind of kind of away. And Aria is going to find it. Aria is going to find 3000 gold pieces. And there is going to be there's going to be a note for that, which essentially is like there is a there's a house in the city of Overwatch where that's supposed to be delivered. Now, you also have you also have that that wagon full of goods. Now, what the party is faced with here is how much of that gets back to that house is completely up to the party.

Well, if Aria finds it, she's like all of it's going back to the house where it's supposed to go. I'm just saying. There are also random assorted goods and stuff. A couple of a couple of weapons, more decorative than anything. You know, clothing, supplies, food, that type of thing like this is this is a big wagon full of like supplies and goods. Like I would like start all back into the wagon and like and she's kind of like making like a mental note, like when it gets to the ros like that's like she's putting like the gold and stuff. I mean, like she like gets everyone else like it's attention and whatnot, but like, like, like the gold in the note like in the wagon as well.

So it's like she's clearly not taking it for herself. That's just going to complete the job sort of, at least unless anyone else like raises any objections to that. No, Tevine wouldn't object to it and would actually agree to deliver it to where it goes. Agreed. I feel like Theo would be just a little bit behind like he would like, who's the, who's the wagon belong to? Because he's going to point to like where the two noblemen bodies are and it's like, I kind of thought it was theirs. Does that note say Arya? Does it say Jason? It essentially says that it's to be delivered, it's to be hand delivered, it's the same house where the original order is from, which is that that wagon full of goods.

But it is a specific person in the house. So the note that Malchus picked up earlier, which was like an order form, it goes with that. Arya just hands the note to Tevine. I'm guessing it's just one of theirs. I don't know if it belongs to specifically one or maybe both of them were co-owners of the wagon. So when we put all these papers together, does it give us any more insight? Oh, an address. And it's going to lead you to, there's a house in Overwatch that actually is a, they're prominent shop owners is what they are. They own a few shops in the city.

And this was just an order going to them. Like they're not crazy important or anything like that. This was just an order they reached out for. Okay. I mean, we don't have the kind of time to concern ourselves with helping finish this delivery or anything. Let's just take it back to the original address and turn it over. We can't be everywhere at once. Who's riding with who? Quick question though, Jason, you said this cart was bound for Overwatch? It was bound for Overwatch. Okay, so it's going in the same direction as us anyways. Oh, okay. Yeah. Yeah, that's what I thought.

I mean, you have to be glorified pizza delivery guys. Just, just, you know, just that you're going to the city that's further than it would have gotten without you. Yeah. But when we get there, we can also split up and, you know, two of us want to deliver it while the rest of you speak to, can't remember her name now. Uh, Liara. Yeah. Yeah. Wow. Brain fart. Um, then, you know, we can split up and you guys can, you know, I don't mind, I don't know Liara, so I will be probably no help in the scenario, but. I feel like we need to stamp that says like protected by Malchus.

Just carve your initials on the side of it. Uh, yeah, I mean, Malchus's current mindset is he just, he wants to get this card out of his hands and have fewer things to remind him of how close the scenario came to going downhill. Right. You're coming in a little echoey. I think you're away from that. Sorry, I'd reclined. Nope, that's fine. Could you do me a favor, Malchus? Could you roll a dexterity check for me? Dexterity. Okay. That stat is on my sheet. It is. It exists. It's not one of the good ones. Okay. Uh, so who's riding with who in these, uh, in these wagons?

Oh no. I assumed I would be driving our carriage. And Malchus was taking the other one. Yep. Aria is going to be wherever Theo is. And I was just about to say Theo would be wherever Aria was. God damn it! Let's say they're riding with Malchus. Okay. Sure. I'll ride with Devine. All right. And, um, Tiefling, attempted murder lady is tied up in Malchus's. Okay. All right. So kinky. I assure you she is not enjoying this. This is not. Because essentially in her eyes it's like, oh good, I get to go on a long wagon ride tied up to my inevitable doom. Nice. Excellent. Everything's all bad.

So you guys are getting ready and leave this scene of blood and chaos, but you are one wagon richer. We need to know how well is the wagon compared. Okay. Here's what's going to happen. I'm going to roll a flat D20. Okay. One is a wagon. The other is a carriage. I would say an average carriage still beats a nice wagon. Yes. No, yours is built for comfort. Theirs is built for hauling stuff. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Totally. I'm just, I'm just letting you know. Oh. It's still a really nice wagon. Nice wagon. It doesn't get stuck on the rocks. No, you can see where that could be converted into a nice carriage.

I'm just, I'm just. Ooh, a carriage that is nicer than the one we created. I'm pretty good at sewing guys. Some upholstery, some, yeah. So it makes sense that Arianthya would be resting in the wagon instead of the carriage. I was just thinking if that one's not packed that doesn't make any sense, but okay. And you'll hear, you'll hear like jingle jangles of like bits and bobs in the back. Like just like it's, it's kind of packed. And I would imagine that it doesn't go unnoticed as Malkus is driving this. It's like, fuck, the ride is smoother in this. I'm so mad.

Just, I would imagine. Yeah. Look, it belongs to someone else. Yep. It's not ours. I have no clue. I'm in the, I'm in a regular carriage. Yeah. Nothing's changed. But it could probably give some rest to where they got that one built. It's all in the chassis. There you go. Yep. What was the dexterity check for? Are we going to find out or? I would hope a 14 is enough to pilot a basic carriage. Not for that. I will say that like pretty quickly after to get on the road, Arianthya is going to like fall asleep. Like she's like drained completely. She's just going to probably pass out.

I think they would. Yeah, they would leave Aria alone. And you could see he's deep in thought like he's he's thinking about stuff like it's Yeah, we're making a bucket list now. He's like, his mortality has been tested. We're going to have a talk later. He can't right now. Not doing anything. Guys. I think like that, I think that's a good time for us to stop for the night. Oh, that dexterity check is going to bother me. Yeah, that is. We can't just get up to where that gets resolved. Like. It's it's it's it's it's here. There's a reason I asked for it. Now, is the seat booby trapped?

No. I'm not going to take this seriously, then I'm. There's a cookie cookie and he missed it. Yeah, you'll see. I can't tell you or it would change the way you behave. And I can't do that. But can I just say. I'm so glad everyone's alive. That was that was one of those things like as it's unfolding, it's like, oh, oh, oh, oh. Dude. That like emotional roller coaster is like, oh, my God, I can't. I like how the roles fit our how we were feeling. Yeah, like it worked out really well. And I'm like, I just oh, my God. Like you could not have missed harder. Hey, everybody out there.
